Vase with the name of UnasLast ruler of the 5th Dynasty, who ruled either 30 years (Turin papyrus list) or 33 years (Manetho). It is unknown whether Unas was the son of his predecessor Isesi. The pyramid of Unas is located at Saqqara, to the south-west of that of Djoser. The texts on the walls of Unas' burial chamber and adjacent rooms are the earliest attestations of the pyramid texts. The causeway to the pyramid has been partially preserved. The blocks of the causeway walls show an interesting array of scenes, amongst which: the king's victories over enemies, the king accompanied by gods, the Sed-festival, and hunting and agricultural scenes. A posthumous cult for the king was set up locally. Unas' successor was Teti, with whom his relationship is unclear.
