Gustave Jéquier (1868-1946)Swiss Egyptologist
He studied in Paris and Berlin, then worked for the French Institute at Cairo. Jéquier's main fieldwork was focused on the southern cemeteries of Saqqara, where he cleared the pyramids of Pepi II, Aba, and two kings of the Middle Kingdom, plus the so-called Mastabat Faraoun of Shepseskaf. Jéquier was mainly interested in Egyptian architecture and contributed much to the understanding of the Old Kingdom pyramids. He also published books on later temple architecture.
